Newton Abbot: Rifle & Pistol Combo Shooting Package at Crackshot
Experience Overview
The Rifle and Pistol Combo is Crackshot’s most focused shooting package — one hour, two ranges, zero fluff. You spend 30 minutes on the precision-focused 20-metre air rifle range and 30 minutes on the adrenaline-pumping rapid-fire pistol range. Both ranges use air-powered guns (no firearms licence required), and all equipment and unlimited ammunition are included.
Crackshot is Devon’s premier indoor shooting range, located in a converted industrial unit at Heathfield between Bovey Tracey and Newton Abbot. Since opening in 2015, it has built a loyal following with visitors praising the professional setup, friendly staff, and genuine value for money. The rifle and pistol combo is their core package — the two ranges that deliver the most hands-on shooting experience.
This package skips the Simway Hunt simulator (a big-screen digital experience) and focuses entirely on physical shooting. If you want the purest test of accuracy and reflexes, this is the one to book. If you’d prefer all three ranges, the 1.5-hour full combo is just £7 more.
The Two Ranges
This combo pairs Crackshot’s two physical shooting ranges — each offering a completely different challenge and skill set.
| Range | Equipment | Distance / Setup | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air Rifle Range | Scoped pellet air rifles | 20 metres · 5 lanes · Sitting & standing | Precision & accuracy at distance |
| Pistol Range | Semi-auto BB handguns (gas-powered) | Hanging metal targets · Rapid fire | Quick reflexes & adrenaline |
Air Rifle Range (20 metres)
The rifle range is about precision. Five lanes offer both sitting and standing shooting positions facing a 20-metre range. Targets include traditional black-and-white paper rings on a pulley system — winch them in to check your grouping, then send them back out to try again — plus knockdown and spinning targets for variety. The scoped pellet rifles are accurate and satisfying, and with unlimited ammunition you can take your time dialling in your aim.
Pistol Range (Rapid Fire)
The pistol range flips the pace entirely. Semi-automatic BB handguns — gas-powered, 10-shot, capable of rapid fire — and hanging metal targets that ring out with a satisfying ping on every hit. Staff keep your gun’s gas topped up throughout so you can keep shooting without interruption. This is the range that gets the biggest reactions from visitors — pure adrenaline.
What to Expect
Arrival & Check-In
Report to Crackshot’s reception desk at your booked time. The venue is also a well-stocked air gun shop, so you’ll walk past displays of rifles, pistols, and outdoor equipment on your way in. After a quick check-in and safety briefing, staff walk you through gun handling, aiming, and range etiquette.
On the Ranges (1 hour)
You’ll spend 30 minutes on each range. The order may vary depending on availability, but you’ll experience both: the calm focus of the rifle range and the rapid-fire energy of the pistol range. Staff stay with you throughout, refilling gas and ammunition, adjusting targets, and offering tips to help improve your technique.
After Your Session
Browse the Crackshot shop downstairs after your session. Staff are happy to let you handle different guns and offer recommendations. The whole experience wraps up in about an hour, making it easy to combine with other Devon activities in the same day.

- The pistol range is the crowd favourite — the rapid-fire action and metal target pings get the biggest reactions. You’ll wish you had more time on it.
- Bring friends to compete. The rifle range’s paper targets make it easy to compare groupings and see who’s the best shot.
- After your session, browse the Crackshot shop — they carry a large selection of air guns and accessories, and staff are happy to let you handle them.
