Queenstown Jet Sprint Boating & Clay Target Shooting Combo: Prices & Booking Guide
Experience Overview
Oxbow Adventure Co’s Jet Sprint Boating and Clay Target Shooting combo is designed for visitors who want to combine two distinctly different adrenaline experiences in a single session at the Gibbston Valley. The two activities could hardly be more different in their nature — one is pure raw speed on water, the other demands focus, patience, and precision — but together they create one of Queenstown’s most memorable activity pairings.
Both activities are at the same venue, so there’s no travel between them. The typical order is clay shooting first (when concentration is freshest), followed by the Jet Sprint Boat as an adrenaline send-off.
The Jet Sprint Boat
The Jet Sprint Boat is Oxbow’s signature attraction — and a genuinely one-of-a-kind experience anywhere in the world. It’s the world’s only 4-seater Jet Sprint Boat, carrying the professional driver plus three passengers. Jet Sprint Boating is a motorsport discipline where boats race against the clock around tight, island-dotted courses, and Oxbow has created a tourist version that puts you in the boat for all of the sensation.
The statistics are stark: 0 to 100km/h in 2.5 seconds, pulling up to 4G-forces through the turns. The course weaves around islands on a purpose-built waterway — the driver navigates hard corners at full throttle before you’ve had a moment to catch your breath.
Clay Target Shooting
The clay target shooting component takes place at the Oxbow Gun Club — a custom-designed compact sporting field equipped with eight automatic clay throwers. Each shooter is positioned in their own dedicated stand with safety barriers. Your instructor coaches you through the key skill of clay shooting: reading the target’s line and firing ahead of the moving clay rather than at it.
All protective equipment is provided — earmuffs, safety glasses, and shooting vest. The experience opens with a safety briefing and gun safety demonstration. It’s designed for all ability levels: beginners receive one-on-one coaching that makes first-time hits achievable within the session, while experienced shooters are challenged by the variety of trajectories from the eight automatic throwers.
What to Expect on the Day
Arrival
Meet at 2696 Gibbston Highway, Gibbston — 30 minutes from Queenstown Town Centre. Check in at Oxbow Adventure Co reception and your session order will be confirmed.
Clay Target Shooting
Safety briefing, equipment fitting (earmuffs, glasses, vest), then onto the clay field. Your instructor coaches you through the eight automatic thrower stations. The small group cap means individual attention throughout rather than watching others shoot.
Jet Sprint Boating
After shooting, move to the Jet Sprint Boat staging area. Your driver briefs you on the course, how to brace for G-forces, and safety procedures. The run is exhilarating and intense — 0 to 100km/h in 2.5 seconds across a tight island course that leaves most riders wanting to go again immediately.

Visitor Tips
- Clay shooting first — your concentration is at its peak before the Jet Sprint Boat, and the boat makes a natural high-energy finish to the session.
- The Jet Sprint Boat is fast enough that anything loose flies off — secure or leave behind sunglasses, hats, and loose pocket items before the run.
- This combo is ideal for stag parties, couples, and groups who want more than one activity. Competing on clay hit counts then comparing Jet Sprint reactions makes for a great shared experience.
- Want to extend further? The triple combo (Tour 32) adds the Ultimate Off-Roader — cliff dropping, rock climbing, and drifting in a 4WD, 4-wheel-steer machine for a 3-hour full day at Oxbow.
- The Gibbston Highway passes AJ Hackett Kawarau Bungy Bridge on the way — New Zealand’s original commercial bungee site. Worth a brief stop even if you’re not jumping.
- Add the NZD $30 return transport if you’re not hiring a car — removes all timing and parking stress.
