The Ultimate Off-Roader is a 4WD, 4-wheel-steer machine that goes places no other vehicle can — including cliff drops and rock climbs not possible in any standard 4×4. And the Oxbow Gun Club’s custom clay target field provides one-on-one instruction in a discipline that rewards precision in a way few adventure activities do.
Activity 1: Jet Sprint Boat
Oxbow’s Jet Sprint Boat is the world’s only 4-seater Jet Sprint Boat — a custom-built craft carrying the professional driver and three passengers. The boat accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.5 seconds and pulls up to 4G-forces as the driver navigates around a series of islands on a purpose-built course. It’s over in moments — and like most extreme speed experiences, the memory lasts considerably longer than the run.
Activity 2: Ultimate Off-Roader
The Ultimate Off-Roader is Oxbow’s most technically extreme machine — a 4WD, 4-wheel-steer vehicle built to go places that are genuinely inaccessible to any other vehicle. The course includes cliff dropping (controlled descents down near-vertical faces), rock climbing (ascending rock formations impossible in a conventional 4×4), and drifting across loose terrain. You ride as a passenger with Oxbow’s experienced driver throughout.
This is one of the only experiences in New Zealand that delivers genuine off-road extremity — not a gentle farm track, but purpose-designed terrain that tests what the vehicle and driver can do.
Activity 3: Clay Target Shooting
The clay target shooting component takes place at the Oxbow Gun Club — a custom-designed compact sporting field with eight automatic clay throwers. Each shooter has their own dedicated stand with safety barriers. Certified English-speaking instructors provide one-on-one coaching throughout: stance, grip, swing, and the critical technique of leading the target. All safety equipment (earmuffs, glasses, shooting vest) and the shotgun itself are provided.

Arrival
Meet at 2696 Gibbston Highway, Gibbston — 30 minutes from Queenstown Town Centre. Check in at Oxbow Adventure Co reception and receive your session schedule for the three activities.
Activity Order
Oxbow typically schedules clay shooting first (precision first, adrenaline later), followed by the Ultimate Off-Roader, and the Jet Sprint Boat as a high-energy finale — though order may vary by session availability. The full sequence runs approximately 3 hours on-site.
Between Activities
All activities are within the same venue, so there’s no travel between them. Brief changeovers give you time to catch your breath between disciplines. The Oxbow team manages timing to keep the day flowing.

- The triple combo is the best-value way to do Oxbow — all three activities individually cost more than the bundled price. If you’re spending more than 2 hours at Oxbow anyway, book the triple.
- Start with a 10:00 AM session to have the full afternoon free in Queenstown — the 3-hour combo finishes by 1:00 PM, leaving the rest of the day for hiking, bungee, or lake cruises.
- The Ultimate Off-Roader is the most physically intense of the three — cliff drops and rock climbs involve real jolting. If you have any lower-back concerns, choose the two-activity Jet Sprint + Shooting combo instead.
- On the Jet Sprint Boat, secure everything in your pockets — sunglasses, caps, and loose items will not survive the G-forces through the corners.
- Clay shooting works well as the precision cooldown after the Jet Sprint and Off-Roader adrenaline — focus and stillness after extreme speed produces a satisfying contrast.
- If your group is 7 or more, book two consecutive session times to keep everyone together at the venue.
