Riga Gun Range: Winchester, Glock 17 & Kalashnikov – Packages, Prices & Booking Guide
Tour Overview
The Riga Gun Range — operating under the Latvian name Šautuve — is consistently rated one of the best shooting experiences in the Baltic region. With 47 different firearms in its arsenal, it holds the claim of the widest selection of weapons in Latvia, attracting everyone from curious tourists to experienced sport shooters.
This Viator-listed package focuses on three of the world’s most recognisable firearms: the Glock 17 (the world’s most widely adopted service pistol), the Kalashnikov AK (the most produced rifle in history), and a Winchester pump-action shotgun (a staple of cinema from Terminator 2 to The Mummy). Eleven shots are included across the three weapons.
The session runs approximately 40 minutes at the range and is led by English-speaking instructors experienced with tourists of all skill levels. You can compete with friends for best grouping on the target, and you leave with your paper targets as souvenirs. Note that this package requires a minimum of 2 participants and does not include hotel transfer — a taxi from Riga Old Town costs approximately €5 each way.

Firearms & Arsenal
The base package covers 3 of the world’s most famous firearms. Here’s a breakdown of what’s included and why each one matters:
| Firearm | Type | Calibre | Shots Included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glock 17 | Semi-Auto Pistol | 9×19 mm | 5 shots |
| Kalashnikov AK | Semi-Auto Rifle | 7.62×39 mm | 3 shots |
| Winchester Pump-Action | Pump-Action Shotgun | 12 Gauge | 3 shots |
The Glock 17 is the natural starting point — low recoil, simple controls, great for beginners. The Kalashnikov is the range’s signature weapon: the history alone makes it compelling, and the 7.62mm round has noticeably more presence than the pistol. The Winchester is the most cinematic of the three — pump it once and you’ll understand why it’s been in more action movies than any other shotgun.
Full 47-Weapon Arsenal (Upgrade Options)
Beyond the three included weapons, the range’s complete arsenal — claimed to be Latvia’s widest — covers every major firearm category:

What to Expect
Getting to the Range
Make your own way to Meža iela 1A, Riga. A taxi from Riga Old Town or City Centre costs approximately €5 and takes around 10–15 minutes. The range is located downstairs — look for the blue sign reading “Šautuve”, directly opposite the pink Russian Orthodox Church.
Safety Briefing
On arrival, an English-speaking instructor will walk you through safe weapon handling, stance, grip, aiming, and trigger technique. The briefing is adapted to your experience level — complete beginners get full coaching, while those with prior experience can spend more time on the range itself. Safety goggles and ear defenders are provided and must be worn throughout.
The Shooting Session (~40 minutes)
Your instructor guides you through the three included firearms in sequence, helping you with each weapon as you work through the 11 shots. If you’re with a group, this is when the competition begins — who can group their shots most tightly on the target? After each firearm, you can inspect your target and see your progression. Additional weapons can be added to extend the session at any point.
After Your Session
After your final shots, you’re welcome to take photos with the firearms and collect your paper targets. The range offers a good photo opportunity with the larger weapons — the Kalashnikov and Winchester both make for memorable shots.
Location & Getting There
Practical Information
Visitor Tips
- Book a taxi in advance or use Bolt/Uber — the range is easy to reach but not walkable from the Old Town. Factor in roughly €5 each way when comparing this to the pickup-included option at €65. For a pair, the €110 per person package with €10 total in taxis still represents similar value if you want the wider arsenal access.
- Look for the “Šautuve” sign — the range is downstairs at Meža iela 1A, directly opposite the pink Russian Orthodox Church. It’s not immediately obvious from street level, so look for the blue sign rather than a shopfront.
- The Kalashnikov has more recoil than many people expect. The 7.62mm round is noticeably more powerful than the 9mm Glock. Let your instructor position your grip correctly before firing — this one catches first-timers off guard.
- The range’s 47-weapon arsenal is the main draw here. If you want to add the Desert Eagle, it’s one of the most dramatic firearms to fire — heavy, loud, and visually imposing. Budget an extra €15–20 for a couple of rounds if it appeals.
- This package requires a minimum of 2 people, making it ideal for pairs and small groups. If you’re visiting Riga on a stag do, the friendly competition element (who gets the tightest grouping?) is part of the appeal.
- The 40-minute session is tightly focused on shooting — there’s no additional transport included, so the full time at the range is spent on your firearms session. This is ideal if you’re fitting this into a packed itinerary.
- Request a photo session with each weapon after firing — the instructors are used to this and will arrange it. The Kalashnikov and Winchester are particularly photogenic.
